Picking up Momentum

As you know, I won't post a long post until I have hit a "new low" weight. Happy to report I am now within two and a half pounds of that mark.

It's about time, as I've been on a plateau for quite some time now. The odd fit of this blog for me, and probably for most weight loss bloggers, is that the most public thing in my life is the thing that I am worst at. Just have been pondering this a little. Is that weird for you? Bottom line: I'm staying with it because the accountability helps.

Oh, you're wondering how I had a good week? Almost every day I've kept to a limit of one indulgence. That usually ends up being dessert, which it seems I can handle since I've pretty much cut out salty snacks. Will share much more in depth soon.

Looks like many of you are keeping active. Best wishes to all!

Sorry, I am not at my brightest today, but what do you mean "most public thing in my life is the thing that I am worst at." What's that thing?

Hope you get rid of the two and a half pounds quickly and looking forward to the thorough update.

Good luck getting rid of those 2.5 lb.
In my weight loss struggles I had found that small indulgences could derail all my 'eat healthy' efforts. I guess I am a total addict so any junk things would trigger serious cravings for many days to follow.
Now, that I have kept most of the weight off for 5 years, I can very carefully allow myself some of those cravings triggering foods but I do it very rarely, less than once a month. Food for me is a very, very powerful drug.

Good for you, Alan. I too am fighting hard to get back to that happy place where I'm feeling good about myself and making progress toward my health and fitness goals. We CAN do this, friend!

Regarding Floriana's question, gaining/losing weight is the thing I'm not good at. Sometimes I ask myself why I keep sharing that part of myself with the world, rather than something that's a strength. Of course, it's the area I need to focus on, persevere, and conquer, which is why I'm doing it, and I'm guessing that's most people's motivation.

"The most public thing in my life is the thing that I am worst at." <--- Love it! I never even thought about it that way! You always have such an interesting perspective Alan. Yea, blogging about losing is a funny thing.

Great week! Here's to many more like it. :)

I know what you mean about blogging about something that you are not good at. One of the hardest things that I have ever done was to post that first blog a couple of years ago. Yet being accountable publicly has made a big difference. Thanks for the support and go get that 2.5 pounds!

Glad it was a better week. Glad you are staying public with the thing you are "worst" at. Hopefully that all changes soon!! Right?!?!?

Hey Alan - with the new job are you able to have a standing desk? How did the last standing desk turn out??? Think of that post often and how much I still really want a standing desk at my own office - wishful thinking at this point. Good to read that you are moving forward (or downward) with your weight loss!!!
