Missed my Sunday post for the first time in a while. Was a busy weekend - a soccer tournament for my younger son, a birthday party at the beach for my older son (= long drive for dad), and I did see POTUS (!), but that pretty much consumed Sunday. Overall, it was a busy week and I kind of drifted plan-wise, although I avoided big trouble and managed to finish the week down a pound.
One thing I did do last week was read about Drew Carey on Bruce's blog. I've known about Carey's weight loss success - in fact I blogged about him in the old Pounds Off Profile series. But reading the link on Bruce's blog led me to think about carbohydrates, which are my downfall. Carey cut pretty much everything out except fruit and vegetables. I'm not quite going there, but need to head in that direction.
Long story short, I have three goals that I'm working toward this week to keep me focused every day:
1. No carb snacks. Fruits are OK, though.
2. Get enough sleep. Go to bed when I'm tired. Get up consistently at the same time.
3. Simplify. Empty workflow. Get rid of things I no longer need. Focus on what's important and be relaxed.
Not sure if this will become a weekly installment, but I'll report back next Sunday. Have a great week everybody!

I am not dogmatic in my attitude towards eating but cutting out carbs helped me tremendously in my weight loss journey. OK, to be precise, cutting out most grain foods because there are still plenty of carbs in some veggies (I stay away from potatoes though unless I have a very long run planned).
Good luck on your lowering-carbs journey.
Carbs are one of my downfalls, too. Hard to say "no." I make it a habit to have some grapes with me for a snack.
How are you doing on water drinking?
Reducing clutter is ongoing for me,too. I get it down and the next thing you know, I created another pile of stuff. Slow learner.
Have a great week!
All three things are things I need to watch out for myself. The more refined the carb, the worse it is for me. I eat a little and I want more.
I also know I need more sleep, but it is easier said than done to get to bed early enough to get the required sleep that I need.
I am making slow progress on my excess stuff as well. I went through a couple of drawers recently and I knew 80% of the stuff in them I had forgotten I had put them in there and knew I would never use them again.
Thanks for the link!
Eating carbs makes you crave more carbs. I think the no carb snacks is a great rule. Fruit is great, but try to stick to ones with lower glycemic index so you don't end up with cravings.
This is funny because last night I was De-cluttering my desk after our recent vacation and you popped in my head with your minimalizing stuff. I really need more of that. Ha ha.
How about those Cowboys? Sigh...I guess both our teams have injured quaterbacks. We'll see what happens.
