USS Mariner, which proclaims every fifth Seattle Mariners game "Happy Felix Day." For the uninitiated, this refers to wunderkind pitcher Felix Hernandez, who arrived as a precociously talented 19 year old and at 26 may be the best pitcher in baseball.
Last Wednesday, Felix threw a perfect game (no runs, hits, or walks allowed), the first in the 35 year history of the Mariners. Tonight was his first start since the perfect game and the Mariners gave out 34,000 "King Felix" t-shirts commemorating his perfecto (he wears #34 on his uniform). I was there and it was a magical night, with the Mariners offense rising to the occasion for a 5-1 win.
