One of my favorite blogs is USS Mariner, which proclaims every fifth Seattle Mariners game "Happy Felix Day." For the uninitiated, this refers to wunderkind pitcher Felix Hernandez, who arrived as a precociously talented 19 year old and at 26 may be the best pitcher in baseball.
Last Wednesday, Felix threw a perfect game (no runs, hits, or walks allowed), the first in the 35 year history of the Mariners. Tonight was his first start since the perfect game and the Mariners gave out 34,000 "King Felix" t-shirts commemorating his perfecto (he wears #34 on his uniform). I was there and it was a magical night, with the Mariners offense rising to the occasion for a 5-1 win. (Quiz for baseball fans: Who has the best record in the American League after the All-Star Break? Why that'd be your Seattle Mariners!)
* So why the asterisk? I pretty much knew they wouldn't have a shirt in my size, so I made the preemptive move of wearing my own yellow shirt to the game. And indeed, when we hit the gate we were greeted with signs preparing fans to choose either youth large, adult medium, or adult XL. I've worked my way down from 3XL to 2XL, but I can't even fake XL yet. So I got an adult medium that Shannon and the boys can fight over and decided not to pout. Didn't eat too much at the ballpark, so maybe the shirt situation was motivation on some level.

34 is Walter Payton's number. But, I'm sure he is Ok that someone as talented as Felix waears it too.
Look at ALL those yellow T-shirts! I think you shd have gotten the XL to reward you when you get there, but I bet the wife and kids are happy. Seattle has great team spirit. We lived in the Seattle area when the Sonics were smoking and I remember one law school class (UDub) when the first five people called on passed (unheard of) because all of us had stayed up watching the championship game!
I know how cool it was when i could finally where a regular XL and now I can wear a L. You can do this. Keep it up. Now notice I didn't make any baseball commentary. :)
